…and then there was one.

To those of you who’ve become used to occasional posts from Kieran Bennet on this blog, an apology, he won’t be contributing here any longer.

Credit where credit is due, there have been some excellent posts put forward by him, the election guide for example was really quite good it has to be said.

However, it also has to be said, there are certain issues which has made it necessary for me to rethink my inclusion of him as a contributor on this site.

While I have heard him described as having “the worst people skills of anyone I have ever met”, I’ll be more kind and simply say his presence here has ultimately been a divisive one.

I haven’t made this decision capriciously, while I admit the deciding factor was his handling of an opinion piece I wrote about a local counsellor effectively hopping into bed with a community service group for her own political gain there are a number of issues which have caused me to take this action.

Kieran will variously go in to bat for the tobacco lobby, legalisation of all illicit drugs, the alcohol industry and various other societal ills on the premise of “civil liberties”.

It’s a view which not only do I not share, but which frankly frustrates and sickens me.

I can no longer in good conscience provide a forum for it.

I’m sure you’ll all support me in wishing him well for the future.

About alburywodongaonline

Hi I'm Jack Stone (a pseudonym), I'm a long-time Albury resident and I think it's a great place to live and work. I have a strong interest in local events and media and I started this site because I think a different perspective is often needed when reporting local news. I take a keen interest in local politics, as well as what's going on at the state and federal level, I'm also a supporter of social justice issues, the envirionment and the need for people to have a say in the events that effect their lives. I'm a fan of the Border Bandits and I'd love to see both teams take the flag this year, and next year, and maybe the one after that too.
