New local news blog in Bright

Ray’s already had a dig at it for being a Chamber of Commerce pro-Cittaslow front, but it seems we have another local news blogger here in the North East, Upbeat Bright.

Are there any other local blog’s we’ve overlooked? I’ve noticed this one a couple of times, but it hasn’t been updated since last year.

It sounds more “down beat” to me, Kieran. Funny how the authorsays the topics are “not for discussion” but then leaves the comments box open.

PS: I notice you found it without me giving the link. So did oel Stone, although he still seems to think I’ve somehow censored him!!

  2. you’d hardly call it “current” events would you?

Nice idea, it seems to have compiled a whole bunch of secondary sources relevant to the local area and reprinted them.

If it was updated regularly enough it would make a tip top resource for the rest of us.

It’s a bit flavourless for my tastes though I’m afraid.

Well the author has obviously read my post about it and has now given it a name (the same as the one in the url obviously). Minor oversight corrected!

Still can’t find the button to turn the comments off though I see.

Look, it’s clearly aimed at pushing the Cittaslow propaganda barrow. Look at the ‘Cittaslow for Bright?’ page, it just goes on & on. And those articles are from the UK, where they do not have the same issues of remoteness that we do.

How can Bright progress by keeping commercialism out? It can’t and the more commercially independent it becomes the better it is as a place to live in. That’s why Coles is actually good for the town. It helps to contain it and gives the community wider choice.

The comments are “off” now. That sort of says it all. The author is probably worried about the type of feedback she might get on this Cittaslow rubbish.

  5. Greg Naylor says:

If anyone wants to make a comment, the about page is still open.

Dies this mean we have to have an extra chair available at the next Bloggers Bash? šŸ˜‰

  6. raydixon says:

I doubt it Greg. Perhaps on the “about page” ask why the author, as a Chamber of Commerce committee member who is obviously pushing a certain path for the town, does NOT want any comments?

  7. Oh you know who’s publishing it do you Ray? Are you going to share or is it “secret squirrel” information?

  8. raydixon says:

The name of the author is on the website. Go find!

  9. I would, but to tell you the truth I’m not that interested.
