I for one am feeling decidedly pessimistic about the upcoming Albury council elections, I have heard it said on more than one occasion by people appraising the current council lineup that “not one of them deserves to be there”.
Sadly, I suspect this September is unlikely to do anything to improve the situation.
For the past four [...]

the Centro farce….the buck-passing continues.

So, in my last post, I relayed the tale of scum-bags occupying disabled parking spaces illegally and the wave of apathy on all sides which accompanied it.
As you’ll recall I vowed to follow up with the council whom the police assured me were indeed responsible for issuing infringement notices in Centro car park.
Well guess what?
That’s [...]
It’s a bloody disgrace!!

Normally I try to avoid Centro, they are a particularly vile way to shop, crowded, smelly, they treat their employees like vermin. There’s a whole list of reasons not to bother, but this week my Nan is in town and bless her, the old girl likes to shop.
She’s 85 not-out and since she had a [...]
Saleyards impass, the way forward.

In light of the very public disagreement between local redneckscockies and Wodonga council over the location of the Wodonga sale-yards, I think the way forward is patently obvious, instead of moving the sale-yards to Bandiana, they should be relocated to their original location, the current site of the soon-to-be-disused Stanley Street pool complex.
Pouring millions upon [...]

Christian Scholl, the Wangaratta truck driver facing 24 charges, including 11 counts of culpable driving and 10 of negligently causing serious injury following the now infamous Kerang rail disaster which killed 11 people in June of last year has pleaded not guilty in the Bendigo Magistrates Court.

I recieved an invite from Ordette Mannering who is running for the local council elections on a ticket headed by Cr. Paul Wareham, that she along with Daryl Betteridge (lead candidate on the late-night trader’s ticket) will be at the Zedbar (Globe hotel building, Dean Street Albury) on Tuesday August 26th from 6-8PM in an [...]

Apologies all that I haven’t been posting as often as I’d like, I’ve been pursuing my OTHER passion… gardening.
I’ve been a keen gardener for as long as I can remember, recent years however have seen me move home too frequently to enjoy the fruits of my endeavours both figuratively and literally.
My current address looks like [...]

To those of you who’ve become used to occasional posts from Kieran Bennet on this blog, an apology, he won’t be contributing here any longer.
Credit where credit is due, there have been some excellent posts put forward by him, the election guide for example was really quite good it has to be said.
However, it also [...]
Beijing: the ugly games.

I have a confession to make.
I like the Olympics, at least, I like some aspects of the competition.
The outright commercialism, the cover-ups, the political spin and rhetoric I don’t much care for, but the actual competition itself, the fact that such a large portion of the world’s population is both represented and interested, I find [...]
